1st- 3rd quarter website- WIDGETS!!

not sure if you can zoom in on this or not, but there is LITERALLY 27,000,000 search results for designing a website using PHOTO SHOP. find one and use it. some of the best ones use "YOU TUBE" but you can't use YOU TUBE in school- sorry

you must create a fictitious company and design a WS including all LOGOS, BRANDING, AND MARKETING SCHEMES.

Your company must deal with online sales only.

your company sells "WIDGET's" a widget is a fictitious product that can be anything you need it to be. You must have your Design thinking caps ON!!

The name of your company must have the word WIDGET or some form or portion of the word WIDGET or some expressive form of Widgets in the name

Your logo will be a direct connection to the type of  MARKET you are trying to reach. IE- if your WIDGET is about financial planning then your font choice and overall design is going to have a much different look than that of a WIDGET for offshore oil drilling, or WIDGETS for children playground sets.


You will be graded on the overall use of photo shop and how it applies to your design- notepad is NOT REQUIRED.


You will be graded on you r BLOG maintenance- talk about your daily happenings, talk about the ease of using Photoshop as apposed to using HTML. Talk about the tutorial you are using let people know what you are doing so that we have a chance to make the class grow and share information.


your time line should be as follows-

1. come up with a name and purpose of your company/ WIDGET
• your HOME PAGE should carry a mission statement about your product.
2. design a logo and creative look for your company- who are you marketing for.
3. The work mentioned above will be reviewed for a grade by Feb-10th.
• this would include BLOG maintenance with screen shots and posted pics of LOGOS and other designing accomplishments.

SENCOND QUARTER WEBSITE

The requirements for the second quarter started with

• Header (in Photoshop)
• A functional MENU bar (in HTML)
• Content to your pages. 
• a footer (in Photoshop)
• Comment section to one of your pages.

Ina brief but meaningful conversation that I had with an Past student, who is now a Graphic design major in college said that everything we were doing in this class was exactly what her curriculum entails at the college level.
Our curriculum is slightly less aggressive than college level material, but the content is the same. A preview of the 3rd quarter Website would be more on the design side. you will be assigned a fictional company that is in desperate need of exposure. It will be your Job to design logos, letterheads, WS and E-mail links that will generate business for that organization.
